New Book from a Critter Member
**NOW IN PRINT EDITION TOO!** Awesome new book, HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR SPECULATIVE FICTION OPENINGS, from a Critter member who's unearthed a shard of The Secret to becoming a pro writer. Really good piece of work. "...if you're at all concerned about story openings, you'd be nuts not to read what Qualkinbush has to say." —Wil McCarthy, author of BLOOM and THE COLLAPSIUM

Among the short stories I've read, Death and The Taxman stands apart as one of the tiny few that have felt like an experience rather than just a story. It's unique, fun, well-conceived, with satisfying beats all the way through, and the perfect ending to top it all off. It's no wonder it won Writer's of The Future Vol. 39. 💖
'Death and the Taxman' won the Writers of the Future Contest, the largest talent search for speculative fiction writers in the world. What is more, many high-level professionals in the publishing industry told me it was their favorite story in the bestselling anthology. Read his link here to a free copy and ask yourself when is the last time a story entertained you like this one?
I love well written humor! Death's trouble with all the different doorknobs was hilarious!
This story was amazing. That ending was so satisfying.
A hilarious tale of Death, the Reaper, and what happens when your Tax comes due.
It was a fun, clever story; and while it shouldn't matter, I guess, I just loved the illustration.
Refreshing and fun idea. We need more stories like this.
