New Book from a Critter Member

**NOW IN PRINT EDITION TOO!** Awesome new book, HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR SPECULATIVE FICTION OPENINGS, from a Critter member who's unearthed a shard of The Secret to becoming a pro writer. Really good piece of work. "...if you're at all concerned about story openings, you'd be nuts not to read what Qualkinbush has to say." —Wil McCarthy, author of BLOOM and THE COLLAPSIUM

One of the best!

This is an excellent site in terms of the quality of the poetry and prose it publishes and also in terms of the speed with which the editor, Russell Streur, responds to a submission--invariably in 24 hours. For the last five years he has kept to his schedule of publishing three days a week, four to five entries at a time. It's a zine you can count on receiving in your RRS reader.

The Saloon: Witty. Professional. Irreverent. Can go long distances without taking a drinkā€¦but never fails in quenching one's thirst.

The Camel Saloon is a very welcoming place - I like the pictures on the walls too!

I like the Camel Saloon because it encourages lesser known poets from India by featuring their poems ... I like the layout ,the variety and above all the encouragement:)

Quality literature and photography in a unique setting!

My vote goes to Camel Saloon for its inclusiveness, internationalism, variety, and its activism in support of free speech around the world. And really great poetry to boot!

Supportive editor!

The Camel Saloon offers the best in poetry and good manners!

Publishes great material!

The Camel Saloon is simply the coolest ezine, period.

The Camel Saloon is a fantastic publication and community--thank you Russell for keeping us all updated on human rights and literary news!

Excellent selection of poems, User-friendly e-zine, fabulous editor at the helm.

Russell Streur is a great editor.

Friendly, easy to read, easy access to Editor, great poetry. Unique approach.

The Camel Saloon is not only a great establishment for great poets and writers, but the site is run by an artist, Russell Streur, who is concerned with the voices and conversations of his contributors.

An oasis in the desert. Camels like me are often attracted to such a place... peopled by wordsmiths and a barkeep generous and kind!

The Camel Saloon presents much of the finest work on the web, and Russell is a great editor and very kind hearted individual.

Diverse journal. Editor has eclectic taste, responds and prints quickly. Pleasure to work with as a writer and to read.

I've had several pieces published here and really like the quality of the writers included. The editor, Russell Streuer, always responds in a timely fashion and with the utmost care in his choice of material. Great zine!

gutsy, original, irreverent, eclectic

It is a quality publication run by a professional & talented editor.

The Camel Saloon is a brand of superior quality in the industry of Literature. They publish quality content by both emerging and established writers, giving them a fair podium for recognition and subsequent fraternizing with the Saloon frequenters.

The camel saloon is my favorite. It's a great journal because Russell is such an outstanding editor and fine gentleman

The camel saloon is my favorite. It's a great journal because Russell is such an outstanding editor and fine gentleman

The Camel Saloon is a wonderful 'zine, and Russell Streur an editor with class.

The Camel Saloon is a wonderfully quirky site, attracting a wide variety of poetry submissions. It is always an interesting read and I look forward to new postings.

The Camel Saloon always offers an appealing blend of regulars and new voices

The Camel Saloon is a great watering hole for modern, accessible poetry. I read it regularly.

An interesting range of poetry with an eye for quality of the writing. And the photograph features add a special spark.

The Camel Saloon is Excellent. Without a doubt one of my favourite zines on the net.

This zine is both a visual and literary delight. What a wonderful on line publication!

Constantly refreshed; compelling contributions and selections; vast archive; and, not least, personal! All round, a great poetry e-zine.

Good writing and pictures and an editor who dips his toes in the trough of our strange and sometimes wonderful world.

By my personal count The Camel Saloon generates greater readership than other venues of my acquaintance.

Russell also works with you on your poetry, and he responds very quickly, an important characteristic in an e-zine that does not take simultaneous submissions. I also enjoy his exhibits of photography.

The range of poetry is eclectic and unbiased. The range of work covers a wide scope of poetry.

The complete lack of cats.

Clever, new, real... and with a special opening towards women's writing. I just love it!

The Camel Saloon, and it's editor, best in the business. Variety, top class work, high standard, prompt response to contributors.

Camel Saloon is an outstanding publication. Russell Streur is an astute editor who knows good writing, and he publishes good writing. Russell cares about poetry and the poets that he finds fit to publish. He is an editor who is wonderful to work with. Cheers Russell!

A great mag!

Russ is a great guy, very approachable, creative and helpful.

Camel Saloon is the best!

Wonderful, imaginative, bold, irreverent and FUN!

It's the journal I turn to most often, and I've never been disappointed. I'm always pleased and stimulated by both the photographs and the writing--varied, but high in quality.

Consistently interesting and high quality work on a very attractive site.

The Camel Saloon is simply one of the most outstanding zines on the scene; it takes no prisoners.

The Saloon is a fantastic place to find poetry, prose and photography. It's a supportive community and wonderful to read and submit to!

I like the the Saloon reaches out to poets world-wide, and the incorporation of photographs.

Very fresh and thought-provoking poetry.

I've been a long time fan of the camel a saloon, and been featured there 4 times.

This is a wonderful publication produced by a dedicated editor who makes full use of technological possibilities. The publication has a unified theme, is attractive, easy to navigate, etc. Most of all, it publishes excellent works.

have known russell for some time and know how hard he works to publish the variety of work that appears in C.S. good selections, good variety, good quality....

One of the best ezines I have come across!

Russell Streur, simply does a wonderful responsible job with his poetry site. He make careful sections on his poetry choices and have a great photo art gallery. And I might add he does it as a committed labor of love to the arts.

Welcoming, friendly and supportive Editor who shows interest in the poets he publishes. Also covers a wide range of interests and supports other poetry journals. A good example of poetry community.

Best sight for new and interesting poetry.

The Saloon is particular about what they accept--high quality work. I like it that readers are welcome to comment on what they read. Some of the comments are very helpoful, so, not only do you get 'published', but you get critiqued as well. What better way for a poet to improve?

The Camel Saloon is always open and open to everyone! It's Proprietor- Mr. Russell Streur has created a visionary watering hole for writers and artists to share their work with each other and the world. Mr. Streur's encouragement and support for the artists that walk through his doors is unending and unconditional. He puts a lot of sweat into championing struggling voices. I am grateful that a joint like The Camel Saloon exists, long may she wave!

I enjoy the Camel Saloon for it's consistency in the quality of it's poems along with the variety of voices.

I find The Camel Saloon very well organized as a blog. I think the editor has an excellent taste for good poetry.

A voice of the budding poets gets thicker.
