New Book from a Critter Member
**NOW IN PRINT EDITION TOO!** Awesome new book, HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR SPECULATIVE FICTION OPENINGS, from a Critter member who's unearthed a shard of The Secret to becoming a pro writer. Really good piece of work. "...if you're at all concerned about story openings, you'd be nuts not to read what Qualkinbush has to say." —Wil McCarthy, author of BLOOM and THE COLLAPSIUMHow to Write SF
The Craft of Writing Science Fiction that Sells by Ben Bova, best-selling author and six-time Hugo Award winner for Best Editor. (This is one of the books your ol' Critter Captain learned from himself, and I highly recommend it.) (Also via Amazon)
Interviewed!
I was interviewed live on public radio for Critters' birthday, for those who want to listen.

I love the story of Sticky the Kitty and his furry housemates! Such uplifting stories, and a reminder that there is goodness and acceptance in the world!
So inspirational for young people to see the world as good!
I particularly love the chatty style and wonderful drawings in all of Chuck's books!
Not only is this a story based on true events, the Hawley family continues to help rescue and care for other critters!
Such wonderful life lessons written for any aged person to come to an understanding with. Can't wait to read them to my granddaughter.
A sweet story showing children that even though sad things can happen in our lives there are happier times ahead. A very encouraging message!
This book should be on every child's mandatory reading list! It teaches values in an enjoyable and very memorable manner!
Chuck Hawley is a man with a HUGE heart who saved Sticky the Kitty from a horrible fate. This story, and the rest of the stories written by Chuck, are wonderful and inspiring.
Another beautifully written book with a message for our youth🤗
I Love sticky Cat and The Whole family !! 😍
Because of the story behind the story. If Chuck had not rescued a poor little kitten from sure death, none of his stories would be here! He is a hero in my eyes!!
It is such a wonderful story
I love this heartwarming story.
An amazing heart
Savig of an animal Its wonderful what the author has done
Voting as he’s a hero!
I love Sticky the Kitty, his story is so sweet, and I love how he helps people.
It's a book that talks to ALL in a language that can be understood by All and is a easy message to give to others!! And it is Sticky and his great family who do SO much Good!!💕
Very heartwarming book!
Chuck Hawley is not only an author of delightful and engaging children's books about kindness, acceptance and freindship; he is a hero: a rescuer of a frightened kitten covered in glue, stuck to a busy road. His philanthropy through these books helps fund many animal rescues and adoptions that could not happen without support like Chuck's foundation gives.
Heartwarming true story, adorable illustrations
Love it is based on real life characters and teaches children about animals
Love how this whole series came to be. From one act of kindness to worldwide fame. Chuck is so down to earth and speaks from the heart and his own personal experiences. Ive followed Sticky since I heard of his rescue and fell in love instantly.
Love this book
