Critters no longer accepting European Union members :(

It's with a heavy heart that I have to announce Critters can no longer accept people in the European Union as members. This is a result of the "GDPR" privacy laws going into effect. I'm a big fan of privacy, and applaud the general idea behind the GDPR, but the way it's implemented forces me to close the door to EU writers. [read more why...]

Network speeding up

I'm switching the connection over to a new, shiny 10X faster network because of all the load. There might be bits of downtime as your boxes learn new addresses and things. Should be brief. Let me know of any prolonged outages you see.

Preditors & Editors Changeover

With the very sad passing of Dave Kuzminski, who ran P&E, I've taken over the P&E duties. Lots of what I hope are improvements; check it out at

Known Issues

Below is a list of know issues reported with the Reader' Poll. If you know of a problem and don't see it listed here, you may report it here.

In Horror Novels, 'Shutdown' is a duplicate of 'Shutdown'.

In Mystery Novels, The book, Killer Scents was originally released in 2013. I mistook the release as the release date. If you could please remove this entry under the MYSTERY category. Killer Scents by Adelle Laudan Thanks for your time.

In Romance Short Stories, I am concerned about an error made about An Amish Starry Christmas Night - it was actually published in Dec. 2013. The correct title should be An Amish Starry Summer Night which was published in 2014. So the title needs to be changed to the summer short story and the link corrected. Thank you so much for making this correction. I tried to submit this form before but had internet trouble. Diane Craver

In Promotional Firms, Sites, and Resources page, 'Pump Up Your Book Promotions' is a typo and should read: 'Pump Up Your Book'.

In Horror Short Stories, 'Metamorphosis, Not Metaphors B.E. Scully Great Old Ones Publishing [link]' is a duplicate of 'Metamorphosis, Not Metaphors B.E. Scully http://'. Same story, one has a link and one does not!

In Anthologies page, 'Enter at Your Own Risk: The End is the Beginning Firbolg Publishing [link]' is a duplicate of 'Enter at Your Own Risk: The End is the Beginning Firbolg Publishing [link]'. Same book, two different entries

In Steampunk Novels, 'Kara Jorensen' is a typo and should read: 'Kara Jorgensen'.

In Romance Short Stories, The link for The Shucker's Booktique isn't showing up as [link], it's actually showing up as the full link name and anyone wanting to go to the link has to copy and paste it into the browser instead of clicking on it.

In Thriller Novels, I submitted the book titled 12 by Melissa Hosack, but it was published in 2012. Can you please remove it from the category? Thanks.

In Anthologies page, 'sideshow' is a typo and should read: 'Sideshow: How Dark is Your Shadow'.

In Mystery Novels, 'no name for author of Calculation' is a typo and should read: 'Steven P. Marini'.

In Print/Electronic Book Publishers page, 'The Wild Rose Press' is a duplicate of 'Wild Rose Press'.

In Anthologies page, 'Sideshow: How Deep is Your Shadow' is a duplicate of 'sideshow'.

In Horror Novels, 'Shutdown' is a duplicate of 'Shutdow'.

In Magazine/e-zine Editors page, 'Sam Bellotto Jr.' is a duplicate of 'Sam Bellotto Jr.'.

In Romance Short Stories, 'Chanpagne and Chocolate' is a typo and should read: 'Champagne and Chocolate'.

In Science Fiction & Fantasy Novels, Wrong year! Kingdom of the Jax was published in 2013, NOT 2014. My bad. Sorry.

In Horror Novels, 'DC's Dead' is a duplicate of 'DC's Dead'. This is the same book - one is listed as Michael / Fisher and one is listed as Michael Fisher / J Ellington Ashton Press

In Print/Electronic Book Publishers page, 'J Ellington Ashton Press' is a duplicate of 'J. Ellington Ashton Press'.

In Book/e-book Editors page, Hello, the website for the publishing house I work for is listed after my name instead of there being a link. I just thought you might want to have it be consistent with the other entries. Thank you for all you do.

In Review Site page, Can you put the correct link up for 2013 so we can see who the winners were? :) Thank you!

In Science Fiction & Fantasy Novels, 'Arthur M. Dooweyko' is a typo and should read: 'Arthur M. Doweyko'. Arthur M. Doweyko was mistakenly entered as Arthur M. Dooweyko My fault.

In Young Adult Books, 'Publisher' is a typo and should read: 'MuseItUp Publishing'.

In Romance Novels, Within the Law by Chelle Cordero is posted as available for voting, however it does NOT appear at all in the standings to show votes received. The link as posted goes to "Publisher: Vanilla Heart Publishing (February 14, 2014)"; Within the Law Paperback – March 27, 2014; Release Date: September 4, 2014.

In Horror Novels, My link to my book is not working would like to fix if possible.

In Horror Short Stories, 'Angel Manor ' is a typo and should read: 'Pride'. Someone mixed up the title to the short story with the title to the novel

In Science Fiction & Fantasy Novels, 'Dooweyko' is a typo and should read: 'Doweyko'. Sorry...second notification...just antsy to see the correction.

In Artwork page, 'Jasmin attalla' is a duplicate of 'Jasmin Attalla'. On the poll for the artist publishing 2014 contest, my name (jasmin Attalla) is there twice.

In Mystery Novels, 'Dana Marton' is a typo and should read: 'Forced Disappearance (and vice versa)'. (sorry! I hope I didn't put them in the wrong order!)

In Science Fiction & Fantasy Novels, 'The Reader of Acheron' is a duplicate of 'The Reader of Acheron'. The Reader of Acheron is listed twice. Can you combine votes and re-list?

In Romance Novels, Hello! My novel, Another Man's Son, from TWRP, is listed on the romance voting list and was at #22 on the results - but now seems to have disappeared from the results list! At least I can't see it there...what happened? - thanks for your help - Glenys O'Connell

In Magazine/e-zine Editors page, 'Sam Bellotto Jr.' is a duplicate of 'Sam Bellotto Jr.'.

In Horror Short Stories, 'Baby Breath by Sidney Leigh' is a duplicate of 'Baby's Breath by Sydney Leigh (correct) '.

In Anthologies page, 'Darkness Ad Infinitum ' is a duplicate of 'Darkness Ad Infinitum'.

In All other Novels, 'Tread Carefully on the Sea' is a duplicate of 'Tread Carefully on the Sea'.

In All other Novels, Not sure where to send this but I have a question. It looks like "Pilgrim's Progress" was nominated in the "All other novel" category. The book was written by John Bunyan and published in February, 1678. I thought the contest was for books written in 2014?

In Science Fiction & Fantasy Short Stories, "Spanish Nights: A Jinn's Seduction" by Valeri Twombly is in the short story category, but it's a 150 page novel (see link). It's in the wrong category.

In Mystery Novels, 'Calculation by Steve Marini - 6th place' is a duplicate of 'Calculations by Steve Marini - 17th place'.

In All other Novels, Shouldn't the Best Book banners have 2014? They say 2013 on them. :)

In Anthologies page, The year on the banner graphic is wrong, should be 2014 but reads 2013.
