How to Write SF

The Craft of Writing Science Fiction that Sells by Ben Bova, best-selling author and six-time Hugo Award winner for Best Editor. (This is one of the books your ol' Critter Captain learned from himself, and I highly recommend it.) (Also via Amazon)

The Sigil Trilogy

If you're looking for an amazing, WOW! science fiction story, check out THE SIGIL TRILOGY. This is — literally — one of the best science fiction novels I've ever read.

I was interviewed live on public radio for Critters' birthday, for those who want to listen.

Known Issues

Below is a list of know issues reported with the Reader' Poll. If you know of a problem and don't see it listed here, you may report it here.

In All other Novels, Error, this novel was released in 2015.

In Science Fiction & Fantasy Novels, Hi, I hope I am writing to the write place. Help! I think I've entered my novel into the wrong category in the P & E readers poll. Henry Anderson's "The Mouth" may have been entered in Science Fiction and Fantasy Short Stories. I should have entered it in novels : Science Fiction and Fantasy (as it's a novel) If that is the case could you delete it please? if so have written to the wrong person could you tell me who to write to? Thank you Henry

In Book/e-book Editors page, 'Jorge Salado-Reyes' is a typo and should read: 'Jorge Salgado-Reyes'.

In Science Fiction & Fantasy Short Stories, Andrew the last is not appearing in the current tallies listing.

In Romance Novels, Someone entered the Smashwords edition of my novel "Blowing Smoke (SoulShares #6)" in the Romance category -- I appreciate the heck out of the thought, but that book came out in July of 2015, so I don't think it's eligible this year. I'd actually like to enter SoulShares #7 in that category, but I don't want to split my vote...

In Horror Short Stories, 'Adjudication' is a duplicate of 'Adjudication'. My story is listed at least four times! Will they be combined?

In Authors page, 'Charie D. La Marr' is a duplicate of 'Charie D. La Marr'. Listed twice!

In Thriller Novels, confessions of an english psychopath jack strange has the wrong link

In Children's Books, I mistakenly offered up the same children's novel that I offered up last year. PHILIP AND THE MISERABLE CHRISTMAS. A brain cramp on my part with no malice intended. Please delete the novel from the eligible list of possibilities. Thanks, and with apologies, John Paulits

In Science Fiction & Fantasy Novels, I don't know if it's just my iPhone view, but the entry for Alien Nation does not contain any information except the title. Most notably, the author's name is missing. I came to the page to vote for the book, but others might not vote for it because the author is missing.

In Science Fiction & Fantasy Short Stories, 'andrew the last' is a duplicate of 'Andrew The Last'. It would appear that someone has nominated Andrew The Last as 'andrew the last' and it appears twice on the voting page....possibly a lost vote if not corrected?

In Book/e-book Cover Artwork page, 'The Island by Clarissa Johal' is a duplicate of 'The Island by Clarissa Johal (cover design by Greg Simanson)'. 'The Island by Clarissa Johal ' is a typo and should read: 'The Island by Clarissa Johal (cover design by Greg Simanson)'. I added my book The Island and listed the cover designer in parenthesis. I don't know if this will result in two listings or me losing votes. It should read The Island by Clarissa Johal (cover design by Greg Simanson) Can this be fixed or no?

In Science Fiction & Fantasy Short Stories, 'Andrew The Last' is a duplicate of 'andrew the last'.

In Book/e-book Editors page, 'cott T. Goudsward, David Price, and Daniel G. Keohane' is a typo and should read: 'Scott T. Goudsward, David Price, and Daniel G. Keohane'.

In Book/e-book Cover Artwork page, 'The Island by Clarissa Johal ' is a typo and should read: 'The Island by Clarissa Johal (cover design by Greg Simanson)'.

In Horror Short Stories, I hate to be a pest, but the way you printed out the logo for the winning story is wrong. My last name is La Marr - the way you have it makes it look like Marr. Can you please correct it and make La Marr on the second line? It means a lot to me. People tell me they search for my work under Marr. It will help me if it says La Marr on the second line.

In Romance Novels, Crimson Bayou by Alizabeth Lynn in the Romance Novel and Bookart category appears to have been published in December 2014 (source Amazon)

In Mystery Novels, in Mystery Novels A Death in the Hills by Paul Barra appears to have been published in 2014 (source amazon) it was number 8 in your 2014 poll of Mystery Novels

In Romance Novels, Rage by Linda Burson appears to have been published in 2015 (source Amazon). This book placed 3rd in the 2015 Thriller Novel poll.
